Hartford is the capital of Connecticut, in Hartford County. It is located on the Connecticut River, near the center of the state.   Being one of America’s earliest cities, Hartford is bustling with activity, history and culture.

Some points of interest in this Connecticut city include sites such as Bushnell Park, which has rolling lawns, fountains, a lake, and a historic carousel.  Nearby is the Connecticut State Capitol.  This large Gothic-inspired building features many statues on its exterior. It is topped with a gold leafed dome.  Located on the Hartford/Westf Hartford border is the Elizabeth Park & Rose Garden.   A fabulous stop for history is the Harriet Beecher Stowe House & Research Center. The former home of Harriet Beecher Stowe is now a museum located on Farmington Avenue.  Also on Farmington Avenue is the Mark Twain House, which was once the home of Samuel Clemens.  The Old State House, which sits facing the Connecticut River, was the first in the U.S.,  and recently restored with a gold-leafed dome rising from its top.  You will enjoy many destinations in Hartford Connecticut.
